TNT (2, 4, 6 Trinitrotoluene) is an old, well-known explosive. It is used in military shells, bombs, and grenades, in industrial uses, and in underwater blasting. PLM, Fusion Preps, FTIR, and Raman are useful techniques for the identifidation of TNT. EDS may assist in identification only if spectrometer is equipped with light element windows and/or WDS capability.
