303: Nutmeg

Rev. 1.0

The microscopic structure of the nutmeg seed can be divided into layers of the shell and seed tissues, including a variety of cells from the spermoderm, perisperm, and endosperm.    The sample of ground nutmeg powder in this sample is from McCormick® spices.   Although the sample has been analyzed using SEM and FTIR, plant material is best identified from characteristics viewed by polarized light microscopy.
